Plot or Plod: either way you market, it’s work

Let’s consider two words: Plot and Plod. Notice that I didn’t include their near-partner, Ploy, a word which has slimy connotation. To market effectively, it’s best to have a Plan. We all know the Goal – to sell books – but how we get there will differ.… ...

What’s in a name?

One of my friends’ favorite lines in HASHES & BASHES is this –

That girl’s name is Amy, a sequence of names in infamy, which is what she brought to all our lives.”

Referencing the conniving ex-daughter-in-law, Amy, who ended STASHES in the gray bar hotel and played no part of the HASHES & BASHES conflict.… ...

A Book of Imaginary Friends

I never had imaginary friends as child.

Did you? If not, read this to understand: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imaginary_friend

But I read and read and read. My family lived in small communities, sparsely populated and countrified.

My psychologist friends tell me that I am fortunate: as the oldest child I was allowed to read and play, not conscripted as caregiver to my three younger sibs.… ...

Character

StashesI am writing a sequel to my novel, Stashes. I miss my characters: Jackie and Steve Breeden, pictured to perfection on the cover by the illustrator, Cliff Cramp (yup, he of the Star Wars dvd covers’ fame).

I miss their life misadventures, and there was an open loop in the narrative that begged for the sequel.… ...

cash, trash, hashes and bashes – it’s all stashed in politics

states2A half dozen Republicans have already declared their intentions to be our President, in an election that is over 500 days away. With another half dozen stealth-sniffing their trunks around the U.S., seeking to suck up cash. With the $$$$$$$$$$ they garner, we could probably pay off the national debt. ...

Living Life as a Miracle: Up to our Necks in Water

There was a time when my husband flew so much on business that he could have sprouted wings.wings

After all he is ‘the best man alive’, my angel.

As he did his sales work in Elsewhere, USA, he amassed so many frequent flier miles that, even after his seven years of retirement, we still roust about the country on points.… ...

Burning Man

Burning ManOnce a year, on Labor Day weekend, tens of thousands of participants gather in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert to create Black Rock City, dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance. They depart one week later, having left no trace whatsoever. Burning Man is also an ever-expanding year-round culture based on the Ten Principles (seem familiar anyone?...
